The rumor about Sony developing a next-generation console is not new. A new leak has revealed more details about the supposedly developing Dockable Hybrid Console.

According to the leak, the PS6 can be played in handheld mode. The touted model is a hybrid that can be docked on a TV.

The YouTube channel Moore’s Law is Dead has revealed that Sony is developing a PlayStation 6 handheld console. The project is supposedly codenamed ‘Canis’.

According to the leaks, the dockable hybrid console is expected to be a tough competitor for Nintendo Switch 2. The PS6 handheld console will reportedly be dockable on a TV. The Nintendo Switch 2 also functions similarly. The device is expected to be powered by an AMD APU.

The handheld device will have a clock speed of 1.2 and 1.65 GHZ in handheld and docked mode, respectively. According to leaked information, the PS6 in development is expected to have a 192-bit memory bus with up to 48 GB LPDDR5X RAM

In docked mode, the handheld device may surpass PS5 in ray tracing (1.3–2.6x) and is comparable or slightly less in rasterization, depending on game patches and FSR 4 usage. M.2 SSD slot and a MicroSD card slot would be available for storage.

Additionally, the device is expected to have backward compatibility with PS4 and PS5 games. 

Other notable features include improved haptics, touchscreen, dual microphones, and USB-C with video output.

PS6 Dockable Hybrid Console: Expected Price and Release Date

Moore’s law is dead, a YouTube channel claimed that the price could match the Nintendo Switch 2. The current price of Switch 2 is $449.99. The estimated price for the Dockable Hybrid Console is somewhere between $399 and $499.

Expected release is in 2027. Industry insiders and stakeholders have been debating the PS6 for quite some time. With new leaks, the anticipation has been hyped again about a portable PS6 from Sony.
